Wednesday

timing it out

We went to the CFC today. On the subway+2 buses, it takes about an hour. The campus was more understated then we were expecting but far more beautiful then I'd even hoped. The fields behind the manor are dreamlike, with rolling grassy knolls, apple trees and tattered wood fences from days past. We took some photos on the 'real' camera and will post them as soon as we find a way to get them digital. We also visited St. Lawrence market and sampled 8 different kinds of olives - all were amazing. Just before we left, we stopped by Ying Ying Tofu and discovered the 'finest Tofu in Canada', which lived up to it's claim. A small family makes this incredible organic tofu and adds black beans, tomato, sweet and sour sauces and more. It's pressed firmly and has a delightfully chicken-like chewiness. We've never tofu quite so yummy, at least not in a ready to eat snack type form.

A couple days ago, I bought a 35 year old bike, with a rat-trap. Supposedly there are no hills here, so the mono geared cruiser was going to be fine. Turns out there are tons of mini-hills that roll up and down across the city. Combined with some humidity, a short trip is often a long one, at least for me. Reva's wheels came with the apartment and she flies.

Our bikes in front of the best gelateria we've ever been to. Soy chocolate to die for.

Organic watermelon. How did we ever transport such a big watermelon? Stay tuned...

Our view looking south and upwards at 9:30pm

mm, nice description of the campus. Sounds like it will be a lovely place to spend the next few months. And yummy tofu and soy stuff and massive watermelons ... sounds good to me!
