peonies!

After living at Dundas and Sherbourne for almost 9 months, it's only the last 3 weeks that we realized that there is a farmer's market on Saturday's at St Lawerence Market. It's a 5 minute bike ride away. If only we had known sooner...oh well. So far we have been enjoying Ontario asparagus, radishes, green onions, spinach and strawberries every week. And flowers. I missed the lilacs last week and made up for by buying 2 bunches of peonies this week. Heavenly.

Aren't peonies the most gorgeous flowers! I don't know if you remember, Aren, back on Gladstone Street, we had several bushes in our back yard, all shades of pink.
Always with the tiny ants somewhere in the lush petals. Such a favorite in Chinese paintings too.
Frustrating to discover a Farmer's Market at the end of your time there! Sounds like you are making up for lost time. Hope you will have one just as good where you're going. xox Singne

Hi my darlings,
Hello from Berkeley...
Reva left a comment for Aren today on one of previous postings.
Your place is so attractive and immaculate...
You looked very cute jumping on your bed in full
dress...was that the outfit for the opening?
Peonies are such exquisite flowers...fragrant and lush and vibrant...
Sadly, I never had much luck planting them...
Glad you are having a grand time in Toronto.
with love Mom

Ms. Quam - when are you coming out west? Bro-in-law Mike says the Holt downtown is open. -LB-

singne: peonies are definitely one of my favourites.
mom: having fun in berkeley? yup, i wore that dress and aren wore a tie. we had that peony bush in the garden on the mountain - it didn't do that badly, didn't it?
lb: we are arriving on july 1, staying until post show opening aug 11ish. i'm looking forward to seeing the new store in person. it was a little weird - once it opened, i didn't get any emails or phone calls. i never received any information about how it went etc.
