Production 3

At the CFC we're just wrapping up 'Production 3'. The 8 writers each wrote a story that were to take place in one of two sets: a jail sell or an empty apartment. The films were shot at the Toronto Film Studios (see photos in previous posts). Each story was shot twice by different directors. Altogether 16 films were made. Each of the editors worked on 4. Mine were:

wreckless- guy going through a mid-life crisis finds himself in jail for wreckless driving... and he loves it!

best offer- old man tires to sell his wheelchair and pull a con on the way

white wedding- real estate agent is caught in the middle of a bizarre relationship between her clients

red diamond- siblings fight over their dead mother's red diamond ring

All 28 residents and 10 or so staff members will be screening the films on Tuesday, followed by an entire day of discussion. the exercise was set up in such a way that the writers and directors could not communicate before the shoot. It was all very secretive. Hearing from past CFC alumni, the writers get really pissed off when they see the results. It will certainly be dramatic; there is a heightened sense of anticipation/tension in the air already!

What a cool project. All 4 film tag lines sound intriguing. I really wish I could see some of your work these days- it's been a long time and I can only imagine what it's like now. Being a writer must be pretty frustrating a lot of the time, hey? How often would you see your work brought to life the way you imagine it? Hee hee- hope it gets really dramatic and interesting!
Really good to talk to you today. Hello to Reva too!

Sounds so interesting, and so much fun - I'd love to be a fly on the wall.

It went really well. Everyone seemed quite please with their work. The writers were so lovely to the directors, even though in some instances their work had been completely distorted. We all hung out afterwards, had a few drinks and unwound.
